Decorating on a budget

Decorating is an important aspect of piecing together a party. I mean all aspects of the party are what make the party, but when it comes to any celebration, the look of the party is where the first impression lies for party guests.

When it comes to celebrations, first we must consider how much of the budget we are willing to put into each element. If costs are tight, then we need to be mindful of each element. So when it comes to decorating, what do we include?

Well for me if the event is a birthday, shower or congratulatory event, then balloons are always a must. Balloons are inexpensive and always a ton of fun. Blowing up a bunch of balloons and then just throw them about is super fun, but that tends to cause quite a mess with them being everywhere. This is not especially a good idea when considering really little kids.

So what to do after you blow up all these balloons?

Simple solution, tie a ribbon or string to the end and use tape to fasten them to the ceiling. The effect is super fun.

Another tip I have is get either streamers or coloured or blank paper. We can even make a little craft time out of this. Cut the paper into equal... sized strips, then have fun colouring them. Then put them into circles and staple a strip of them together. Hang this from wall to wall or in a door or wherever a pop of colour is needed. We just made a garland!

Last tip I have is a coloured table cover. This will protect your table from stains or scratches. Dollar stores usually have a pretty good selection of coloured table covers. The point to this is to draw your guests to the refreshments. This will also tie every element together. If there is a multi coloured theme happening I suggest getting a rainbow of colours and either layering them one on top of the other to create a ruffle effect, or bunching them up. Both ways are amazing.
