Creating a Crafty Corner

When planning any event that involves children, on top of the facepainting, balloon twisting, magic show, or whatever type of entertainer you have choose for your event, I always suggest having a crafty corner.

Crafty corners are a place where kids can just explore and create. What they create does not matter. You do not need to have specific crafts pre made and laid out to direct. Pre made crafts are always lovely and many people prefer them because they are a great starting point for the imagination. But if you are not crafty, and want to be budget friendly, then a simple crafty corner is for you.

Take your inner child on a journey back to kindergarten, or even before that if you can. What do you remember making? Is there anything you hung on to that you made? What materials did you use for this creation?

A Crafty corner should be a place where kids have various materials laid out in a specific area that is just for them to do crafts. You can have a table or just a section of floor, but be mindful of mess in the chosen area, especially if you are including any paints, glitter or glue.

Provide your group with various materials that will stir their creative spirit.

Materials that you can include depend on the age of your group, be mindful of scissors and paint for the younger aged kids

Things to include:

1. Paper and or construction paper.

2. Markers or crayons.

3. Glitter.

4. Glue.

5. Beads.

6. Threading string.

7. Paint and paint brushes (don't forget the water and paper towel)

8. Popsicle sticks.
